In a nut shell "YES!".. all of the timber that goes through my workshop comes from one of a number of sources all traceable back to the plantation or forest it grew in! The only time that any of my timber is not from an F.S.C or similar company, is when i have either re-claimed the timber, or in the case of the turnery side of things, actually give to me, or even "harvested" by me, when friends, or friends of a friend have had a tree cutdown, or cut back! It has even been known for me, to while out delivering an item, arriving back with a load of timber that i have obtained "on route" where i have driven past Tree surgeons etc!!! I hate seeing wood wasted! and would rather it be used!
Quite simply, the best that i can obtain, with in the price agreed upon when a "project/commision" is actually under taken! I have been know to reject stacks of timber both in the wood yards i use, as well as when it has arrived on a delivery vehicle!.. i am rather pedantic when it comes to the grades of timber i use, especially hard woods and the more exotic turning timbers. I am not adverse to rejecting 20-30 pieces, just to obtain one single piece!
Providing that the timber is not on the endangered species list, and can be traced back to source by the F.S.C or similar; then yes i can, however for the more exotic timbers this may take a while, any thing of up too 12 weeks. This is mainly down to stockists or importers only being able to carry so much stock!
Yes, i can and do offer a design service, be it for a piece of furniture, door, gate, window or even a skirting moulding! Obviously the amount of time spent working with you the client, would be incorperated into the final price of the item/s concerned! Please note: that the initial consultation with you would NOT be charged for, unlike some design companies seem to like doing! as this to me is an unjust way of conducting business!.

If a price has been agreed upon for an item, be it a run of moulded timber, or even a piece of furniture, then unless "YOU" the client/customer" actually changes the scope of the work, or add's the dreaded "EXTRA" item. the price originally quoted for materials and labour will remain the same.Even if the price of that particular timber raises dramatically!! There is only ONE EXCEPTION to the afore mentioned statement!, and that is if any material costs have risen, from the time of quoting for the work, and the actual agreeing to commence is given by you the client/customer and there has been a period of 30days since the original quotation was given! In this particular instance, then a check, by my self will be made on the current prices and any retifications to the original quotation will be made !.
